The World of Sauna blog was born in the sauna
I started working on the World of Sauna blog exactly 2 years ago. The idea for the blog came to me in the sauna. Sauna has always been an important part of my life. I have gone through my joys and sorrows in the darkness and warmth of the sauna.
When I started the World of Sauna blog, my head started flooding with ideas. How could I approach the Finnish sauna as a theme? I stated that in a million different ways. I wrote all my ideas on sticky notes. Quickly the wall was full of notes. Two years later, my office still has a wall and a window full of ideas.
I started looking into the topic and noticed that a sauna blog like mine did not yet exist. I did find many blog posts and articles that dealt with the topic of the sauna, but often they contained false or misleading information.
I wanted to address this problem. It was clear from the beginning that I also wanted to write about Finnish saunas in English and German. This way more people could benefit from the blog.

What is Sauna from Finland?
While searching for information about Finnish saunas abroad, I came across the site Sauna from Finland. I had never heard of them but immediately started following them on social media. It was clear that their goals aligned with mine.
I also learned that Sauna from Finland is an association that helps sauna companies to bring the Finnish sauna to the world’s attention.

Sauna from Finland’s work is much more advanced than my little sauna blog. I have started a cooperation with Sauna from Finland a few months ago. I wanted to know more about them, so I decided to ask Carita Harju, the founder and CEO of Sauna from Finland, a few questions:
Why was Sauna from Finland started?
While living abroad for many years, I was fascinated by the poor marketing of the Finnish sauna. Why has the Finnish sauna not been actively marketed to the world? The sauna creates well-being and relaxation in this hectic world, and I think the world needs more Finnish sauna experiences.
Eleven years ago, the idea turned into reality. I gathered active individuals, companies, information and observations about sauna, Finnishness, internationality and marketing into one network. However, the most important thing was to create a common vision: To create the best Finnish sauna experiences in the world.
The Finnish sauna experience is a common theme that crosses industry boundaries and is also of international interest. Sauna is memorable, an experience. It can be a selling point for tourism as well as the service and product business. The end result of that thought process was Sauna from Finland.
Who can join?
All companies around the Finnish sauna experience who want to develop or be seen. Today, we involve companies from more than 17 different industries in almost 10 different countries. If a company wants to take the message of an authentic Finnish sauna and implement, for example, our quality criteria (Authentic Finnish Sauna Experience) in its operations, then we will be happy to include them. Networking is powerful.
